As Elder Larry B. Hordge Sr., a proud alumnus of Blake High School’s Class of 1970, walks the hallways of Stewart Middle Magnet School, he reflects on its deep-rooted history, community impact, and the promise of its future.

Before Stewart stood as it is today, this building was home to Blake High School, a symbol of hope, resilience, and unity for the Black community during segregation. Its legacy lives on through alumni and community leaders who continue to share its powerful story, ensuring that past generations’ strength and perseverance inspire the future.

This tribute to Black history reminds us that our past shapes our progress, and as we honor it, we pave the way for what’s to come.
